Ben Biao

Updated: Apr 18, 2019

If you ever watched my Instagram stories I kept banging on about my spring onion (that I had grown from a root). That spring onion really does provide so much (photo opportunities, nutritional value)....and then I ate it, so you won't hear about it again (I have moved on to my tomato plants).

So back to the spring onion and Ben and Biao.

The Biao is the branch. It will be the green part of the spring onion outside the soil. The bit we can see. It will be the reason for seeking help.

The Ben is the root of the spring onion, buried inside. As an individual we might not even be aware of it, but it can be the root cause of Biao.

We should never ignore what someone comes to us for help with; but like any good detective/acupuncturist (Line of Duty started again folks) there 'may' be multiple layers to the 'crime' and we need to make sure we use our treatment times to investigate these.

Ultimately if we don't find and treat *Ben* the symptoms may return.

This is where questioning and observation is also key, alongside what you tell us.  Your acupuncturist might be asking you questions, which sometimes seem unrelated. But we ask these questions to understand what might be happening inside. Plus we're definitely looking at your tongue and pulse! -
